Hi there
Are you running with music? I do most of the time as do many others. Obviously I get the point in running with my headphones on but I will also encourage you to leave them at home every once in a while especially if you go for a run in the nature. It’s great to listen to the sounds of your surroundings, the birds, the wind in the trees or the small streams flowing next to a trail.
But for the runs that you enjoy with music I want to give you some suggestions of tunes that I listen to during a workout. I do this with a weekly series called “Running Tunes” which will go on as long as I have one more song left in my playlist :). I’ll try to publish a new tune every Friday and embed the YouTube video of the song if available or link to streaming services or other resources where you can listen to the song.
I will also include a contact form at the bottom of each post in this series with which you can send me your favorite running tune as an input to extend the series if I’m out of songs 🙂
So let’s get started with the first tune:
This one is from Coldplay, a band which probably everybody has heard of. I like them, it’s just happy music that lets you forget your current struggles. I especially like their older stuff, in my opinion they peaked with the “Viva la Vida” album, some of their newer work is a bit boring. But “Hymn for the Weekend” out of their latest album is definitely an exception, it’s one of those happiness multiplier tunes that has the ability to make a great moment even better.
So if you go out for a just-for-fun run, the weather is nice and you run at a pace that is not too exhausting, this is a song you should consider for your playlist. Be careful though, you might speed up without noticing and singing out loud the chorus 🙂
